A Whole New World of Conservation

Dear Loyal Conservancy Member,

Our oceans and coasts are in trouble.

Pollution, overfishing and warming brought on by global climate change are altering key ecological functions necessary for providing us with food and medicine, protecting coastlines and filtering pollutants.

Oceans cover 70 percent of the Earth's surface -- yet are perhaps the most unprotected ecosystem on our planet.

You can help us change this right now by supporting all of our efforts, including the Global Marine Initiative, today.

Simply put, it is unlikely that you, me, our children or our grandchildren will be able to survive and thrive, unless we protect and restore our oceans' and coasts' irreplaceable plant and animal life. This is why we launched this and other urgent efforts to help restore some of the world's most vulnerable lands and waters.

Vast ecosystems like the coral reefs in Florida, Micronesia and Jamaica, estuaries in New York and North Carolina and giant kelp forests off the coast of California -- in total more than 100 sites across 21 countries and in 22 U.S. states -- will be protected and restored through the Global Marine Initiative and our state and country programs.

But we will not be able to do this important work without your help. Please make your tax-deductible contribution right away.

Like many committed supporters of The Nature Conservancy, you may associate our conservation efforts with land, but that's not where our work ends. There can be no doubt that life on earth and life under water are inextricably linked. This is why the Global Marine Initiative, and our other science-based conservation work, is so important.

Right now, magnificent marine habitats which thousands of species depend on are dangerously threatened by climate change, pollution, overfishing and other factors. It is not too late to protect these great places, if we act quickly.

We're using our proven approach of the best available science, innovative partnerships and strategic conservation action to preserve shores, reefs, islands and deep underwater habitats.

Can we count on you to provide the essential financial support we need for this vital conservation work? Please make your secure online gift today.

Thank you for your generous support.

Sincerely,
