Lee was a lifelong lover of nature. He loved to hike in the mountains, including the coastal California redlands, the Ozark Mountains, Banff in Canada, the White Mountains in New Hampshire, trails in Maine, Nova Scotia, Rocky Mountains, South Africa, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons, and above all his beloved Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Joon Lee was a professor emeritus of physics at the University of Southern Missisippi in Hattiesburg. He published many articles in theoretical physics, and a book, Thermal Physics: Entropy and Free Energies. He passed away on February 13, 2011, at the age of 73 from liposarcoma. He is survived by his wife Hye-Sook Lee, his daughters Mitzi and Sue Lee, and his granddaughters Isabel and Julia Lee Hunt. He truly loved hiking in mountains and forests, and was a lifelong contributor to the Nature Conservancy. We establish this fund in loving memory of our father.
