Harvey found refuge in the beauty and soft light of Eastern Long Island. He loved long strolls with his family along the shores of Bridgehampton. He sailed Noyac Bay in his Cape Dory Typhoon, biked, hiked and explored the nature parks in Sag Harbor and Shelter Island. Harvey and his family spent countless weekends at the home they built in Sag Harbor.
Donations in memory of Harvey will benefit the Eastern Long Island Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.

Harvey Mar....what an extraordinary man! He was our daughter's neuropsychologist and we have been blessed to get to know and work with him over the past 5 years. We found him to be amazingly dedicated and talented in his field. He was so eloquent with his words and had such a calming demeanor which always made it a pleasure to speak with him. He was genuinely caring and extended himself beyond the normal call of duty and for that we thank him. He was so proud of his children and spoke of them affectionately. We will miss him dearly and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Harvey, you were a good and reasonable man in a world that is largely cynical and crazy. We will try and carry your spirit forward.

Knowledge Mosaic is bereaved at the loss Nora Mar - our dear and beloved friend and colleague - has experienced. We know Nora's brother Harvey was an extraordinary man - a devoted husband, father, son, sibling, and friend, with enormous energy and range of interests and human feeling. We feel for the Mar family and send to them our love and deepest condolences.

From "Hold em up, Cowboy", school in the garage, collecting grasshoppers under the dogwood trees - to family man, psychologist, respected community leader - you were, before all else, my brother. I love you and proud of your life accomplishments - 61 years well lived!
