There are only an estimated 180 Florida panthers left on Earth, pushed to slivers of land that total just 5 percent of their historic range. It doesn’t have to be this way.
The solution is simple: Florida panthers need habitat, and every piece of land we can conserve is critical to the panther's survival. For more than 50 years, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has protected millions of acres—from prime Florida panther habitat to nearly every county across the U.S.
But Congress has consistently underfunded LWCF, leaving vital conservation in jeopardy. That means prime panther habitat like the Everglades Headwaters National Wildlife Refuge & Conservation Area and Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge may continue to go unprotected. And so will hundreds of other important conservation programs that help save species, keep our water clean, and protect nature across the country.
That's why we must push to fully and PERMANENTLY fund LWCF right away! Without robust funding, essential priorities are at risk.
A final Senate vote is just days away. Call on Congress ASAP to protect the natural resources the panther and other wildlife depend on.

America needs to honor our commitments to global climate action. Call for strong and continued U.S. leadership.
We can’t protect our nation’s clean air, water and natural places unless we preserve critical conservation funding.
Invasive species run amok in our lakes, parks -- and even in our own backyards. They overrun native plants and damage the lands and waters that plants and animals need to survive.
Congress is close to taking a critical step to reduce U.S. energy use -- an essential strategy in the fight against climate change. But unless they hear from you now, this vital legislation will go unpassed, increasing threats to nature and communities.

Fully & Permanently Fund the LWCF Right Away
With threats to nature rapidly increasing, it is especially critical to vote 'Yes' to fully and permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) immediately. Congress underfunds LWCF year after year, and we cannot afford to put essential conservation programs in jeopardy.LWCF is one of America's most important and successful conservation programs, benefiting every state in the nation. LWCF has a 50-year track record of helping provide clean water, conserve natural resources, increase recreation opportunities and support communities.Vital conservation work is in danger every day LWCF continues to be underfunded. Plus, increasing its funding will not cost taxpayers a penny because it's paid for with drilling revenues from oil and gas companies. Full and permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund will be up for a vote in the coming days, and I urge you to vote 'Yes!'
