This month, we can continue to honor the Earth by standing together in spirit—even if we can’t be together in person. As congressional leaders are rightly focused on COVID-19 right now, let’s shine a light on the important role nature can play in getting us back on our feet.
Spurring jobs and protecting our natural world go hand-in-hand. Investing in public lands has a track record of boosting local economies while protecting vital natural areas. Supporting jobs to make our treasured public lands safe and accessible will ensure that they can be there for us when we're able to get back outdoors safely again.
And, new stimulus projects can encourage investments in nature that will tackle challenges like reducing fire risk or protecting coastal communities, while also being sustainable long-term. Projects also should maintain environmental protections for air, water, and lands and support the health of communities.
Supporting our economy and protecting our natural world go hand-in-hand. Send your message to Congress today and tell your leaders to make the most of nature's role in helping our economy recover. Thank you!
America needs to honor our commitments to global climate action. Call for strong and continued U.S. leadership.
The lands that the endangered Florida panther calls home are at risk. Only 180 of these majestic cats are left, and every acre of habitat is critical. Call on Congress today to protect the natural resources the panther and other wildlife depends on.
We can’t protect our nation’s clean air, water and natural places unless we preserve critical conservation funding.
Invasive species run amok in our lakes, parks -- and even in our own backyards. They overrun native plants and damage the lands and waters that plants and animals need to survive.
Congress is close to taking a critical step to reduce U.S. energy use -- an essential strategy in the fight against climate change. But unless they hear from you now, this vital legislation will go unpassed, increasing threats to nature and communities.
There’s a leafy superhero in your backyard. How much do you know about the power of trees?
Boosting the Economy Can Help Protect Nature.
As Congress responds to COVID-19, I urge you to invest in our economy in ways that also protect nature. Creating jobs is essential to spurring economic growth, and nature has a role to play in our country's recovery.Protecting our public lands has a track record of boosting local economies while safeguarding vital natural areas. Conserved natural lands and waters help spur jobs and small businesses and help keep communities healthy. The outdoor recreation economy contributes $887 billion in consumer spending annually and creates 7.62 million jobs. And, supporting jobs to make our iconic public lands safe and accessible will ensure that they are there for us when we're able to get back outdoors safely again.Likewise, clean energy investments create jobs, economic development and savings for all citizens. Please support investments in public lands (such as the Great American Outdoors Act), clean energy, and resilient infrastructure in upcoming federal relief to the COVID-19 crisis. This approach will provide jobs and strengthen our economy in ways that keep the air we breathe, the water we drink and the natural world we rely on safe.
