The science is clear: climate change is the most serious threat to our natural world. To prevent irreversible damage to the lands and waters we all rely on, we must take immediate action now.

We are already seeing the effects of a changing climate. The last three years have been the hottest on record and the problem is only going to intensify. As a rapidly growing global population puts increased demand on food, water and energy around the world, our planet is being pushed toward a breaking point.

What will happen if we don’t act right now? Global temperature is projected to rise by 3.2°C, increased air pollution will affect 4.9 billion more people, and 2.75 billion people will be subjected to water scarcity.

How can we help? By reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. This can be enough to keep global temperatures from rising. There is hope, but research shows us that we have a limited window of opportunity to stop the dire projections from becoming reality. We have just 10 years to change course and avert catastrophic damage to our world.

This is a problem we can solve. Science has shown us that nature has the power to heal itself, and The Nature Conservancy’s 600 scientists are busy putting innovative solutions to work. We’re working on the ground in all 50 states and 72 countries around the world to help fight the rise of global temperatures, by protecting and restoring ecosystems. We call these “natural climate solutions” - proven ways of storing and reducing carbon emissions in the world’s forests, grasslands and wetlands.

One easy way to capture carbon is planting more trees. On the Indonesian island of Borneo, The Nature Conservancy is working with partners to address deforestation in the Berau district. This effort alone has the potential to reduce carbon pollution by 1.5 million tons each year—the equivalent of removing 300,000 cars from the roads.

Our research shows that natural climate solutions like this will help make enormous strides in reducing the concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

For more than 65 years, The Nature Conservancy has pushed the boundaries of conservation to solve our planet’s biggest challenges. We have never shied away from tough tasks. We know you won’t either. Your actions beginning right here can make a significant impact on the future of our natural world.

Using the power of nature to combat climate change can have an enormous impact. In fact, more than 1/3 of the greenhouse gas emissions reductions needed to slow climate change can be achieved by restoring land and waters and improving how we use nature. Natural climate solutions can be the key to stopping the catastrophic march of climate change, but we must act quickly. When you donate to The Nature Conservancy, you play an important part in solving the climate crisis.

Donate now to help transform the future of the natural world.

In addition to protecting land and water. The Nature Conservancy is looking to science to address today's most pressing challenges.
