Donate in Memory of Jim Rogers
The Nature Conservancy staff and board are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and global board vice chair Jim Rogers. We will greatly miss his leadership. Our thoughts are with his wife Mary Anne (“MA” ) and partner in philanthropy, as well as their entire family.
Mr. Rogers joined The Nature Conservancy’s board in February 2012. During his time as global vice chair, he served as an inspirational leader and champion for issues ranging from water conservation to land protection to preserving the planet’s natural resources for future generations. Mr. Rogers advocated for TNC’s non-partisan, collaborative approach to solving some of the world’s greatest challenges. As chairman of the Our World Campaign Committee, Mr. Rogers traveled to more than 30 state and country programs with the goal of safeguarding the world’s lands, waters, and oceans; inspiring cities to invest in natural climate solutions; and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Upon taking the helm of the Our World Campaign, Mr. Rogers said, “The challenges that are coming require a bold, aspirational program that prepares our planet for the future. Over 20 years, I’ve been applying what I call the ‘grandfather’s test’ … will my grandchildren, when they’re my age, say, ‘my granddaddy made great decisions.’ My hope is they’ll say he played an important role in our future.”
Mark Tercek, CEO, said, “Jim Rogers was a visionary leader and an invaluable member of The Nature Conservancy’s Board of Directors. His enthusiasm for tackling difficult challenges head on and scaling our ambitious conservation agenda has inspired so many people at TNC and beyond. My colleagues and I are deeply saddened by this news and enormously grateful for the time and resources Jim dedicated to our mission.”
